Having heard the outcry, Capcom has decided to ease up on its DRM. If and when the DRM is cracked (with the latter scenario tending to, sadly, be the inevitable one), all it would manage to accomplish is make legitimate owners of the game miserable. So rather than limit players to 15 characters while offline, the entire roster of 39 will be available for use. You will, of course, still need to be connected to Games for Windows Live in order to access any online-dependent functionality. The change will come as a part of a patch that will be released either at launch or shortly thereafter (depending on the approval process that updates to Live games must go through). Besides the character limitations, the DRM didn't sound entirely unreasonable. It won't immediately kick you out of a game when losing your connection -- it opts to wait for a natural break to ask you to sign back in to Live. There was, suffice it to say, a negative backlash after Capcom announced the details of the DRM that will be included with Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition on PC. The biggest problem was that the game would restrict players to just 15 of its 39 playable characters while playing offline.
