No New Guitar Hero Tracks After This Month

If you're disappointed with the news that a new Guitar Hero game won't be out in 2011, you might be even further upset to find out that the catalog of downloadable content won't continue expanding after this month.

Activision will release all of the previously-announced Guitar Hero downloadable content for February as planned. Following that, there will not be any further DLC releases for the series, according to the games' official Twitter account. The existing catalog of DLC will continue to be sold for Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock and previous GH games.

During Activision Blizzard's investors conference call yesterday, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirschbeg said, "[W]hat we'll do is focus our time and energies on marketing and supporting our strong catalog of titles and downloadable content, especially to new consumers as the install base for hardware continues to grow." Activision's official One of Swords blog suggested this meant that DLC support would continue, which we now know to be incorrect.
